Getting to Mukkam and KMCT

KMCT Medical College is at Manassery, Mukkam, about 26 km from the railway station. How the road passes NIT, and when a cab beats the bus.

Mukkam is a town about 26 km east of Kozhikode, PIN 673602. KMCT Medical College and its hospital are at Manassery in that postal area, not at the town bus stand. The college prospectus lists the nearest railway station as about 26 km away and describes a bus stand a few kilometres from the campus. Those two sentences are why patients book a cab to the gate.

The road from the city

From Kozhikode you travel east and then along the Mukkam road. Chathamangalam, and the long wall of NIT Calicut, comes first. Mukkam and Manassery are further on. A student going to NIT and a family going to KMCT should not share a one-word destination. Name the stop.

Daytime buses toward Mukkam leave from Palayam and from the KSRTC stand. NIT’s own visitor note describes those buses. They are a fair choice if you can walk the last part and nobody is ill. They are a poor choice for a discharge, a fever, or a night return. Book the cab for those.

From the airport

Calicut Airport at Karipur is on the other side of the city from Mukkam. Treat it as a long cross-city ride, longer than the 26 km railway figure. Send the flight number and “KMCT hospital, Manassery”. If you only write Mukkam, you can be left in town with the last kilometre still to do.

What to ask the ward

Which block, whether a visitor can come at that hour, and when a discharge summary is likely. The cab can wait if you ask, and the waiting goes into the fare you hear first. We do not publish hospital charges. Those are KMCT’s. The taxi page for KMCT is only the road.

If your person is at the government college instead, that is Mavoor Road in the city. Read visiting Government Medical College so the two are not mixed up in the message.
