Kakkayam Dam from Kozhikode

Kakkayam is a dam on the edge of the ghats in Kozhikode district. Kerala Tourism has called it about 45 km from Kozhikode. A later note puts the railway station about 65 km away. Plan it as a hill day of that order, not a city hop.

Sedan from ₹3,550. 7-seater from ₹4,300.

Approximate estimate. Tolls, parking, permits extra. Call/WhatsApp for final lowest fare.

Suggested route and stops

From the city, go toward Balussery and then Koorachundu, and on to the dam. The stop is the dam and the reservoir side. Balussery is the road, not a sight we are adding.

From NIT Calicut you are already east of the city. From the medical college or IIM, say the gate so we do not price a pretend pickup at Palayam. Forest paths beyond the dam are your own walk. This desk does not guide a trek.

It is a day trip. Agree the time back on campus before you leave. If you want the cab to wait, say so on the call.

Questions people ask

Is Kakkayam a Wayanad trip?

No. It is in the eastern hills of Kozhikode district, by the Balussery–Koorachundu road, not over the Thamarassery ghat into Wayanad.

How long should a student group allow?

About 2 hours each way, plus time at the dam. Leave in the morning if everyone has to be back for a late class.

Do you list a fare for Kakkayam?

No. The distance notes above are approximate. The fare is what we say on the call or WhatsApp for your gate and your hours.
