Vythiri and Lakkidi from Kozhikode
Lakkidi is the viewpoint at the top of the Thamarassery ghat, the gateway into Wayanad. Vythiri is the next town, a few minutes further. You turn around here unless you ask for Pookode.

- Kerala Tourism’s Kozhikode–Wayanad figure is about 87 km, measured toward Wayanad. Lakkidi is the crest before Vythiri and Kalpetta, so the viewpoint is short of that full figure. Allow about 2 hours from the city.

- About 2 hours from Kozhikode on NH 766, including the nine hairpin bends. Less from IIM or CWRDM, which sit on this road at Kunnamangalam.
- Best time to go
- October to February if you want the view. In the monsoon the ghat is slower and often in cloud. A morning start from campus still gets a group back the same day.

Suggested route and stops
NH 766 east. From the medical college or NIT, join the Wayanad road at Kunnamangalam. From IIM or CWRDM, you are already on it. The climb is the Thamarassery churam. Stop at Lakkidi long enough to look, then Vythiri if you want the town rather than only the bend.
Pookode Lake is a few kilometres past Vythiri. Add it only if you say so. Otherwise this is the short hill day, and the Wayanad page is the longer one.

Is Lakkidi the same trip as Wayanad?
It is the same road, and a shorter day. Wayanad on this site continues to Pookode and then to Banasura or Edakkal. This page turns around at the viewpoint and Vythiri.
Students at IIM are already on the road. Does that change the trip?
Yes. Say IIM or CWRDM gate. The fare should start there, not from a city pickup you do not need.
