Kozhikode to Wayanad by cab

The NH 766 ride from Kozhikode over the Thamarassery ghat toward Kalpetta: what fits in a day, and how to agree the cab fare first.

The ordinary road from Kozhikode to Wayanad is NH 766. It leaves the city eastward, passes Kunnamangalam — IIM Kozhikode is up on that stretch — and climbs the Thamarassery ghat before the descent toward Kalpetta, the district town on the other side. Older signboards and older institute pages still say NH 212. It is the same corridor.

What a day can hold

The drive is the largest part of the day. Add one stop you actually want: a viewpoint, Edakkal if that is the point, or Pookode if that is the point. Adding all of them, plus shopping, plus a late lunch that runs long, is how people meet the ghat in the dark without having agreed to it.

Write the stop and the time you need to be back in Kozhikode. If the cab waits while you walk, that wait is in the fare. If you are staying the night in Wayanad, say one way, and do not pay for a return you will not use. A room is a separate conversation. We can help you look. The hotel names the rate. The ghat itself

It is a hill road with bends. Some passengers feel sick. Sit where you can see forward if that helps you, and do not start just after a heavy meal if you already know this about yourself. In the monsoon the climb is slower and the view is often cloud. If the forecast is a storm, a coastal day — Kappad or Beypore — is the kinder plan. We would rather say that than sell the hill.

Starting from IIM or Kunnamangalam

You are already on the road. The fare should be from your gate, not from Palayam with a pretend city pickup. Mention it. The outstation page is the booking, and the tours page is the wider set of days if Wayanad is more than you wanted.
