Dawn flights from Kunnamangalam, Chathamangalam and the NIT side mean a cross-city ride to Karipur. What to book the night before.

Kunnamangalam and Chathamangalam sit north-east of Kozhikode. Calicut International Airport sits at Karipur, south-east of the city, in Malappuram, PIN 673647. A morning flight is therefore not a quick run down the lane. It is a ride across the city while you would rather be asleep.
What to send the evening before
The flight number, the airline’s reporting time, the pickup landmark, and how many bags. From a house, name a shop or a bus stop. “Kunnamangalam” is a town. “Chathamangalam” is a whole panchayat. From NIT, say the hostel gate and the student’s name if security will ask.

How much time
Start from the airline’s rule, not from a rumour about “two hours is always enough”. Then add the road. NIT Calicut’s visitor note puts the airport about 45 km from the campus. A house in Kunnamangalam is a similar order of distance, not the same driveway. Mukkam is further east again, so leave more, not less.
The usual line is toward the city or the bypass, then south through the Ramanattukara side to Karipur. If there is a diversion, the driver should be able to say so before you lock the door. Night and early morning are quieter than the office rush. A flight that leaves after 8 a.m. can meet that rush. Say the real time.
If the flight is at a civilised hour
